Mine diving 11-12 August 2018

Team: Max, Steffen, Zeljka, Heinke

Guests: Mats, Fabi, Sven

Fun diving is very important for us and so we decided for a weekend together with some friends and supporters of our team to check out the German mines.

On Saturday the 11th of August we went to the Nuttlar mine, where some of us have been before. The really great thing about this mine is that it is very shallow and so even the OC divers can get long dive times with little effort. In two dives we looked at as much as we could from the upper bottom and had a really great time, no long distances to carry, great visibility and a fun group. Really a great change to the European caves.

After the second dive Steffen unfortunately damaged the HUD of his JJ-CCR while dismantling the equipment, which we were able to fix in the evening in a cozy round of community work. Hearty miner food strengthened us for the next day.

On Sunday we had something very special planned. We wanted to visit the newly opened Felicitas mine. Wolfang Röhr, the operator of the mine, had opened only 2 months ago. The mine is much more challenging, just because of its depth of at least 30m and the poor visibility in the 120m long brake mountain. On site were some other rebreather divers with whom we were able to exchange interesting information. Also in the Felicitas we did 2 dives again and reached the EOLs in both dives without much effort. We were totally enthusiastic about this mine so that we offered Wolfgang our support for further exploration of the mine. So we planned to do a project here.

Full of great new impressions and thoughts about the future project we made our way home.
