SF2 diving

Team: Oli, Marc, Flo, Steffen und Ben

Horst Dederichs and Tom Jaspers gave us the opportunity to test dive the SF2 eCCR there on March 18 and an introduction to the technology and operation of the equipment. The Dive4Life has a 18m deep dive tower integrated into a hotel, a beautiful and well maintained facility that was ideal for our day.

Dive4Life

Horst Dederichs and Tom Jaspers brought us two ready-to-dive backmounts and one sidemount. First we were allowed to disassemble an eCCR and look at it in detail. Horst and Tom explained us with a lot of leisure and supported by anecdotes, how the design of the SF2 came about and which considerations and practical experiences are behind it, how it was further developed and how it came to the detailed solutions. It was good to understand that there was an evolutionary development behind it, which was implemented in a very practical way.  Personally, the SF2 seems to me to have been designed more by divers than by engineers, which I don't see as a weak point at all. After a short introduction of the Shearwater Petrel we were allowed to dive the units in the afternoon. At the latest now the constructive closeness to the well known pSCR became obvious; the diving characteristics are very similar and so we could fully concentrate on trying out the Shut Offs, Manual Adds and the computer.

It was a very successful, highly informative day; the Dive4Life was an ideal location.  Horst Dederichs and Tom Jaspers showed us the advantages of the SF2 in a very dedicated and friendly way. Many thanks! It was 100% fun.
