The most beautiful and important thing for us is diving together. So we decided to take up an old thought again and to found a small tradition. About 3 years ago we met as a team at the Starnberger See for diving without any obligation and invited some friends / interested people, some teammates brought their wives. Such a Cavebase and Friends meeting is a good opportunity to get to know each other, above and under water, diving and chatting.

Daily program

So this year we met at Lake Constance. The weather was perfect, pure sun but not too hot. The prize for the longest journey was again given to our Ostgoten (Mark and Andreas). In the middle of September there is a lot of diving traffic at all dive sites at Lake Constance, it is not easy to find parking space for 10 cars at the same time on a Saturday. There remains only the Baustoff Graf, with the huge parking lot between Baustoffghandel and Therme. We had tried in advance to get access to the BAT area. The entrance is on a private area, the key to it we had fetched before, the association gets with key delivery still a Obulus, which one pays however in view of the very komoden entrance gladly.

Meeting point was 10:00 and until 11:00 most of us arrived. After a short greeting, the dive site was immediately visited and possible dive destinations explained. Some diving teams had already arranged in advance and brought the appropriate gases with them and thus at least the diving depth was determined. An unfortunate and unrecoverable equipment failure forced one diver into the position of surface support. Thus some teams changed the constellation regarding the number of divers several times during the morning.

One by one the teams prepared their equipment and brought stages, heating tanks and scooters into the water. First and foremost the photo team (Peter, Manu, Darko, Ester and Danny), with the thought: "Let's see what the visibility is like today?" But before going into the water, there were still concrete instuctions about the individual planned "picture compositions". As we descended, we felt a little more confident about the visibility. At 20m we had a photo session. Not so easy to direct the 4 divers. But we got some nice pictures. On the way up Peter unpacked the camera and photographed the divers again in the shallow water, there the visibility was quite decent, the sun conjured up a great UW light. After a good hour we put our heads out of the water again and were quite satisfied with our photo performance, after all in this constellation the first time.

In the meantime, the deep teams were ready to dive. We could just wish a lot of fun and already their propellers were swirling in the water towards the bottom. Tobi Z., Oli and Flo Hang were on the way as a mixed RB / OC team, armed with a scooter each (Zeuxo / Cuda) the three dived away to the left and were about 30min on 65 - 70m on the way. Carsten and Markus had a similar goal (Scooter / 70m / 30min GZ). Stefan and Holger enjoyed themselves on 60m. Mark, Andreas, Wilke also found a suitable dive target. Tibor, Stefan Moor and Heinke came a bit later to the meeting and went into the water when most of them were already out of the water, but that didn't matter. We had reserved the table for 18:30 in the evening, so still enough time.

With this weather one thing was clear, without ice cream in town the icing on the cake was missing. So most of us went on foot around 17:00 to get another ice cream. Manu unfortunately had to work in the evening again in the clinic (night duty) and said goodbye before the ice cream.

Evening program

To round off the evening properly and, of course, to replenish our reserves over a hearty meal, we had reserved a table at Sternen in Unteruhldingen-Mühlhofen. There we could chat, tell cool stories and make plans. Around 22:00 a general mood of departure spread. Everyone still had a few kilometers to go. And as always, when it's at its best ........ you should make plans for next time.

The Ostrogoths got a place to stay with Manu and Peter, to be on the road the next morning at 7:00. Thus, the two also get the prize for latest arrival at home.

Conclusion

We can look back on a successful meeting in a very relaxed atmosphere, where everyone could dive what he / she felt like. There was a dive partner from the team for every taste and application, no matter if deep or shallow, short or longer dive time, with scooter or on foot, easy going bubbling or working dive (photo session), mostly OC and RB divers mixed in the team. And the most important: we all had our FUN!

In this sense,

Your Cavebase
